Preliminary Music Video Task

This is the finished preliminary task. We edited this as a group on a software called Final Cut Express, on the Apple IMAC. At first the software was hard to use but i got the hang of it. To get the music on to the phone we used bluetooth. We then played this and got Andrew and Jamie to mime over the song. We came up with the idea that they should wear sunglasses to make it look like they are looking at the camera lens when in fact they was looking at the set of lyrics.

Analysing a music video

Background Information
Enrique Iglesias, is a Spanish pop music singer-songwriter. In 2010, he parted with Interscope and signed with another Universal Music Group label, Universal Republic. Up until the release of his latest album, Euphoria, in 2010, he had sold over 55 million albums in both English and Spanish. In this song it features Nicole Scherzinger. Hes main genre is pop.

Mise-en-scene
The video starts with Enrique blacked out with a heartbeat which is a yellow light. The lights in this video are very dark, with the occasional red and blue colour. Both at the beginning, Enrique and Nicole are wearing nothing on their upper body to show the intensity of the lights. In the next shots they wear black and red clothing. There is use of a room full of mirrors which show them contrasting with each other.

Cinematography
There are various shots in this video mainly mid shots and close up shots. The shots are used to intensify the relationship the singers are having in the video. As the song is called ''Heartbeat'' there needs to be a love theme. These shots show that they have a sexual relationship as they show just their bodies in a long shot along with a mixture of black and red lights. Between this couple they dont know were their relationship stands and it shows this as Enrique loves Nicole so hes heart is flashing red, but Nicole isn't so sure, so her heart is flashing blue. In the editing the shots are made to cross, 1 shot Enrique, the next shot Nicole to show both sides of the story, which the song illustrates.

The target audience for this song is 16+ who can relate to the song, or if they are just fans of Enrique and Nicole.
